Poker Tells in Live Texas Holdem Poker

Tells in Live Texas Holdem poker

Many players prefer to play live Texas Holdem because they think it has more tells than online poker. These tells are very useful if you want to learn reading your opponents.

It is very reckless to plan your strategy basing on poker tells only. You should perceive each tell as a piece of information. With the help of a complex of such clues you may build a pretty clear picture of your opponents’ behaviour.

If you really want to use poker tells effectively, you must not rely on them unconditionally. You need to make your decisions taking into account other important factors - for example, the way an opponent is betting, what type of a player he/she is, what their emotional state is, and the history of their plays.

The most popular poker tells are the following. Pay attention to the details on how you can use them.

Chip Loading

It is when a player has received his cards and then looks down at his chip stack. If a player does that, he is likely to have a good hand and is going to bet in the nearest time. He is calculating how much it is required to bet in order to gain the most value from his hand.

In most cases after loading a chip, a player always raises the pot. Observing this, you may guess what holdings he has. The only thing you should do is to get to know what his preferences in hands are and narrow down his card possibilities. It is also helpful to look at your opponent’s play on the flop. If you suspect him to have hit a draw, look at him attentively when the dealer turns the card for the turn or river. As the card is turned he might immediately glance down at his chips, as if to bet. If he does so, you can safely fold your hand.

Betting Patterns

Watch how your opponents bet, how fast they do that, and how much they bet. Many players raise their starting hands in different ways. When they show down a hand they had raised pre-flop, always try to remember how much they raised on it.

Look Away

Sometimes during a big hand you may notice that a player looks away, as if he/she were not interested in the hand. These players are rather dangerous to play with. They want you to think they are unprofessional, weak opponents. But in fact it isn’t so at all. If you observe a player avoid looking at you or act timid during a hand, be careful not to get trapped.

Staring at You

If a player stares directly at you, it is nothing else but bluffing. By that, he’s trying to intimidate you into folding. Don’t let yourself be confused by such behaviour. You might want to call if you have a proper hand for this purpose.

Posture

It can tell you many things if you watch carefully when and how your opponents change their sitting positions. When players do not have hands, they usually sit back in their seats. As the situation changes and they get a hand they care about they will immediately sit up in their chair or tap their feet or fingers. Leaned back posture with crossed arms means that a player is not interested in the current hand. When he wants to get out of the pot, he commonly sits up quickly or starts moving around.

HOW TO WIN POKER - Is there a sure way?

HOW TO WIN POKER - Is there a sure way?

As poker is very popular today and a favorite game to play among Americans, one may ask, if there really is a sure way to win at poker.

The answer is simple. Study and check out these guidelines, try them at poker time and see for yourself.

Before starting to play the game, keep in mind these simple suggestions:

*Inspect the site. Make sure that it is authentic.

*Read the terms and conditions of the site. Check the maximum payouts and the minimum bets.

*Allocate a budget for the day. That budget will determine how much you are willing to lose or to win in the game. Stick to the limit.

*Do not gamble if you can not afford to lose.

*Practice playing the game. Familiarize yourself with the game first before you play for real money.

At the table, here are some warnings that you should always remember:

*If you do make a big win, do not be greedy. Stop. Making a big win and gambling it all over again is a big sign of greediness.

*In poker, overall winnings are what count most. If you are losing, or have already lost your allotted money for the day, don't try to win your losses back. You won't. Stop. Tomorrow is another day.

*Drinking alcohol is a big no-no at poker time. It can seriously affect your judgment. So stay away from it while playing the game.

*Never take side bets. Usually these are just gimmicks, so that more money will go to the casino.

*Never gamble your hard earned money unless you are very much ready to lose it.

While in the game, here are some important ideas to think about:

*Gaze at your opponent's eye. Survey all their moves. Observe them, to better know them. This way, you will fear them less. This way, you will know when they are bluffing or not.

*Play in silence. Have that conversation with your self as well as think deep to your opponents actions. Concentrate.

*Base your decisions on what the reality is. See all movements as they are. Do not fear, instead, be calm and assess their moves accordingly.

*Don't take it personally. At the poker table, it is always unavoidable that your opponent can irritate you. Never give in to such responses. Stay within the good game. Be cool and objective. This is a bluffing game. But do keep in mind that just because your opponent has bluffed earlier, it does not mean that he does all the time. Think tight. Review each move.

*Think about what your opponents have. Create a situation. So when deciding, you'll have a better chance to be right.

*Know when to stop. Is the hand that you are raising now the hand you folded a while ago? This is a sign that you should go home.

*Play to enjoy. Do not play if you are sad, bored or tired. If you can't play having enjoyment as your goal, then don't play at all!
